Why I Became A Teacher

Why I Became A Teacher

Education, Empower & Inspire
My story begins as a little girl in elementary school. I've mentioned in earlier blogs that I am a product of Baltimore City Public Schools. In elementary, I attended Mary E. Rodman Elementary School #204 - we said it just like that, too.  I had some fantastic teachers throughout my time at #204 and knew back then I wanted to be a teacher. Throughout my time as a student in BCPSS, I had other great teachers, but teaching isn't a glamorous career, so I let go of my dreams of becoming one when I went to college. Read about some of those amazing teachers in last year's teacher appreciation blog. So, I graduated from college and went to the corporate side by working in a bank's call center for a…

What inspires you?

What inspires you?

Empower & Inspire
What inspires you? The first post is dedicated to my mother, the late, beautiful Earlma Patricia Granger, better known as Boo. When I saw this question, I was filled with a bunch of thoughts and emotions. There have been so many people, things, and experiences that have inspired me. Instead of making this post too long, I'll break this down. Each Monday in May, I'll write about what inspires me. I could be biased, but probably not, my mother was one of the kindest, most sincerest people-especially when it came to her children (my brother and I.) She believed in every far fetched or minuscule idea I had for my life. She made me believe I could do or be anything I wanted to in this world. An idea that…

How To Choose An Accountability Partner

How To Choose An Accountability Partner

Empower & Inspire
On my May 2, 2020, post, I wrote about the importance of having accountability partners. As you can tell by the title, today's post is about how to choose them.  Choosing the best partner is crucial in achieving your goals. You want to make sure the person or people you choose are the right fit for you and the things you're trying to do.  Let's get into it. To me, the most important aspect is choosing someone you trust, someone you know will support you and not sabotage what you're trying to achieve. I'm big on manifestation. For someone to hold you accountable, they have to know what your goals are. If you can't trust them to be happy for you and not speak negatively about your choices-they are not…

Why You NEED Accountability Partners

Why You NEED Accountability Partners

Empower & Inspire
I tried to reject the idea of accountability partners when it came to reaching the desires I have for my life. I convinced myself they weren't needed, I got this on my own, and I didn't trust people to help with my decisions.  The truth is I wasn't ready to be held accountable. I knew if there was someone to hold me to the things I said I wanted, then I would have to let go of the fear and do them-or feel judged when I didn't attempt to do them.  Aly Walansky says, "Accountability means having both the ability and the willingness to give an honest account of your thoughts, feelings, and behavior to someone else. And while it's important to always hold ourselves accountable to ourselves, it's also…

More About Chanee’
Happy May 1! It's been a while since I've posted on the blog outside of my birthday post. Everything going on in the world had me re-evaluating and re-planning things as I'm sure it has for you, too. To get back in the swing of posting, I've decided that one of my May goals is to post on the blog for thirty-one days straight. There isn't an official challenge. I searched for and created some topics for May that speak for my brand and me as a person, overall. May's post begins with me checking in and posting a few recent pictures. The pictures in the title were taken about a week ago on Snapchat. I've changed my hair since then; I'll share later lol :-) Since we've been in…
