Live Laugh Love

Live Laugh Love

Empowerment, Inspiration
Like the rest of the world, I was in complete and utter shock by the untimely death of NBA legend, Kobe Bryant, and his daughter Gianna Bryant. Whether you were into basketball or not, you knew Kobe Bryant. And while I didn't know the man, his death feels personal. This morning I'm still in shock as I type this post. Some people seem almost invincible, but time and time again, life reminds us that no one is invincible, not even the greats. A few things come to mind when I reflect on how short life truly is; there are a few things I've learned and take away from this loss to the culture. Live Life Fearlessly: This is easier said than done, but if there is something you've always wanted…

Life Is About Choices

Empowerment, Inspiration
This may be a hard pill to swallow, but your life is a result of the choices you make. This may be a hard pill to swallow, but your life is a result of the choices you make. I know some things have happened to you. It wasn't your fault. They did it. If they hadn't done this, you wouldn't have done that. If they had done this, you could have done that. You didn't have a choice, right? My mother used to have a funny saying when I would tell her, "you have to take care of me or do this or do that." When I would say that to her, she would reply with, "All I have to do is stay black and die." I would laugh every…

It Doesn’t Matter What They Think

It Doesn’t Matter What They Think

Inspiration
There was a recent post on Tyler Perry's Instagram page where he, in my opinion, rightfully boast about his work ethic. In the post, he takes a brief video of a few scripts from some of his hit television shows. Let me preface this by saying Tyler Perry does no wrong in my eyes, so what I think starts with a bias. I loved the post mentioned above so much I reposted in my IG stories because Tyler Perry inspires me. I follow lots of writers and different types of blogs and what they think often pop up on my feed. I was shocked to see the backlash received from the post. I read things like he needs to hire other writers or that he was selfish, or they can…
