May 8 is recognized globally as World Ovarian Cancer Day. For me, it’s more than just a date on the calendar, it’s personal reminder. If you’ve been following me long enough, you know I lost my mother to ovarian cancer. Not just “lost” in the way we often say, but lost in a way that reshaped who I am and how I navigate life.. I was only a senior in high school when her diagnosis became our family’s new reality. The chemotherapy, the brave face, the hard conversations- all of it still lives vividly in my memory.
