Kira Ming is a writer, author, editor, business content creator, and magazine owner. If you are a writer or an inspiring writer, she is somebody you want to get to know. I had the pleasure of meeting Kira a few years ago at a PR Brunch I attended. From the day I met her, she has been inspiring, encouraging, and willing to help me, a fellow writer, in any way that she can. I recently asked her to share some of that inspiration, encouragement, and knowledge with my readers. I know and love and have been following your work was a writer, author, and business person for a few years now, but in your own words, tell us about Kira Ming, the person. (Kira wanted me to let you know…

Learn about how I developed ideas for the first two stories in No, I Don’t Have To My first ebook, No, I Don't Have To has been out for almost two months now, and I appreciate all of the love, support, shares, and readers. I'm often asked how I came up with different characters or situations in the book. Today I'm going to tell you a little bit about two of those stories. No, I Don't Have To is a collection of stories about women taking back their power by stating proudly, boldly, and unapologetically-No, I Don't Have To. It is realistic fiction, but fiction none the less. I've had so many women tell me how relatable the stories are, and that was my exact goal in writing. To have…

The past few days have been filled with such a mixed bag of emotions. I've wanted to be a published author since at least eight years old. And over the years I've written so many pieces that the world hasn't seen (YET.) A few years ago, I published my first blog, and from there started sharing bits and pieces here and there. The people that did read what I posted, sporadically, loved my writing! I was happy and shocked. I mean, I love writing, but it's so personal to me. Whether I'm writing about my life, giving advice, or creating stories like the ones in No, I Don't Have To-my writing exposes me in ways I wasn't entirely secure in sharing-until now. Even now, I don't feel ready, but really…

My Writing Space

Writing Tips & Info
Hey! It’s day 3 of Blogmas. Today I’m going to share a little about my writing space. Disclaimer: Any space is technically my writing space. Give me something to write or type on and somewhere to sit, and bam-I’m writing. The space I’m describing today sets the mood for a more intentional and purposeful writing session for me. I call this my mobile office. I’ll have a mobile office until I convert my once hair and nail room. Don’t ask me when that will be, one day, though. I don’t plan to go back to doing hair and nails, but I’m also not ready to get rid of my supplies and equipment. Anyway… For now, I work with my mobile material, and it’s working just fine for me. My mobile…

Happy December! Welcome to day 1 of Blogmas! First, I can't believe I agreed to participate in Blogmas this year, especially with everything I have going on this month. But somehow, my fellow sister in writing heyy_friend_ on Instagram convinced me. So, here I am. What is Blogmas?Blogmas is like a calendar countdown for bloggers. From the first of December until Christmas Day, bloggers and vloggers alike, create a post a day. Some focus strictly on Christmas, but there is no strict rule that says you have to concentrate on winter holidays. My Blogmas post will be a mixture of Christmas favorites, my new ebook- No, I Don't Have To, and because it's the end of the decade, a few of my favorite things and memories from 2010-2019. I hope…

The Hardest Thing About Being A Writer

The Hardest Thing About Being A Writer

Writing Tips & Info
Welcome to day 16 of Blogtober.I want to let you in a little more and talk about my writing style and process a little bit. We will get to that. I've shared in past blogs why I write and my inspiration for writing. Let me tell you the hardest thing about writing for me. It's not generating ideas-I literally brainstorm and write or type out every single thing on my mind. I don't worry about spelling, punctuation, or any type of grammar or conventions. I get all of my ideas and thoughts out. I then go back to everything that I have poured out and organize it for all of the above, clarity, consistency-that sort of thing. If I do run into a case of writer's block, I am a…

My Inspiration For Writing

My Inspiration For Writing

Writing Tips & Info
I've considered myself a writer for at least twenty-eight years now. I've always enjoyed the idea of writing (by hand or typing, either will do just fine.) The inspiration began in school and through my love of reading- read all about it here.   Writing comes naturally to me, but often at the most inopportune times.  I started out being inspired by the type of books and television shows I enjoyed watching- mystery. As a little girl, I thought I would be the woman version of James Patterson (before I knew who James Patterson was.)   As I got older, my style of writing changed. I began to find inspiration in what was going on in more places. I'm inspired by my life, the lives of friends and family, my favorite television…
