Happy Friday and Day 6 of Blogmas 2019! I kept it light and fun on this first Friday of December and shared a few things about me and how I celebrate during this time of the year.
What is your favorite Christmas movie(s)?
Home Alone, Home Alone 2, This Christmas, A Very Brady Christmas
Honorable Mention: To Grandmother’s House We Go
Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Always Christmas morning.
What made you realize the truth about Santa?
Me and my little brother found our Christmas presents in the basement one year and looked at each other like whoa! Mommy buys the presents. Lol!
What is your all-time favorite holiday treat?
I can’t think of an absolute favorite, but growing up my great aunt would bring over trays and trays of goodies she made from scratch and they were all so good! She made cakes, pies, cookies…good thing I don’t have that as an adult. Lol!
What is your favorite Christmas song?
This Christmas- Donny Hathaway or Chris Brown version. I love them both.
Do you make New Year resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I do set goals for the new year. In recent years I’ve been able to stick to my goals by breaking them up by quarters and from there by the month.
What’s the best part about Christmas?
The best part about Christmas is spending time with family and friends. We attend Christmas dinner on Christmas Day hosted by a different person each year, and it’s always a good time. During the month I also spend time with my close girl friends by celebrating what we call Ladies Christmas. This is a tradition we started right out of college. We get together, just us ladies, and celebrate the holiday season.
I also enjoy having time off and going to Christmas themed events around town and going to the holiday parties of other friends and family.
A new tradition I started participating in last year and will do again next week is volunteering with the class of 1996 from my high school alma mater, Edmondson Westside High School.
This is one of my favorite times of year, but can get pretty depressing because it was also my late mother’s favorite time. I work on doing things I enjoy during this time and take a break when I need to.
What are some of your favorite things about celebrating holidays in December? Let me know in the comments!
