Hey! It’s day 3 of Blogmas.
Today I’m going to share a little about my writing space.
Disclaimer: Any space is technically my writing space. Give me something to write or type on and somewhere to sit, and bam-I’m writing.
The space I’m describing today sets the mood for a more intentional and purposeful writing session for me.
I call this my mobile office.
I’ll have a mobile office until I convert my once hair and nail room. Don’t ask me when that will be, one day, though. I don’t plan to go back to doing hair and nails, but I’m also not ready to get rid of my supplies and equipment.
Anyway…
For now, I work with my mobile material, and it’s working just fine for me.
My mobile office supplies include a small clear tote to carry my laptop, organized binder and folders of notes and research. On top of that, I keep a pink caddy that includes flash drives, pencils, pens, markers, sticky notes, note pads, and highlighters. This caddy also includes inspiration- pictures of my son, husband, mother, and brother. Lastly, I keep a candle and lighter because I love a burning smell good candle right near me as I write. I usually have the documentary The Secret or a feel-good movie playing in the background, or occasionally I’ll have r&b music from the nineties to the early two thousands.
That’s it. That’s how I set the mood for my writing. It works wonders for me. What helps you set the mood for productivity in your line of work? If you don’t have a routine or way to set the mood, what would that look like for you, ideally? Share in the comments.
