Helping Loved Ones With Grief

Helping Loved Ones With Grief

Empower & Inspire
A couple weeks ago I discussed briefly (very briefly because there aren’t really words to describe it) the grief that many people go through during the holiday season as they’re grieving. As mentioned in my previous post, this time of year can be a very depressing time for the millions of people in the world who have lost someone. And we know you mean well, but let me tell you some of the things you’re doing or saying is absolutely in NO way helping us-like AT ALL! I haven’t done a large survey or anything but I’ve met and know a few people who deal with being extremely sad during this time of year and most times the people close to us are doing more harm than good. We don’t…

For many of us, the holidays are a wonderful time of year. Many people are taking time off from work, everyone is merry, family gatherings occur, and you get to eat all the desserts you want without the guilt or judgment. And while all of these things are wonderful and this time of year should be merry, for some of us, it’s just not. (more…)

How hard is it to forgive someone for an actual or perceived wrong? How hard is it to go day in and day out with the pain and resentment of recent, and often time, not so recent hurt? Do you find yourself full of resentment and bitterness? Do you find yourself replaying certain events and scenarios over and over in your head? If you’re having these feelings odds are you are holding on to some deep hurt and it’s time to forgive. (more…)

Empower & Inspire
Today is Monday, November 27, 2017. It’s the last Monday of November and just five weeks until the start of a new year. As we get older it seems as if the years continue to fly by. I mean, it seems like we were just bringing in 2017 and now here we are preparing for the end of year holiday celebrations. With that in mind- if you were to assess your year, how did your 2017 go? Have you achieved your 2017 goals? Why or why not? What will you do in the next five weeks to achieve a goal or three before 2017 is over? What are you going to do differently, as we approach 2018, to ensure you meet your goals and dreams for next year? (more…)

This past weekend I took the opportunity to attend a networking event hosted by Lamore Lifestyle PR. During this event I had the opportunity to hear, speak to, meet and connect with phenomenal business owners and authors. I received valuable marketing and business tools, but the advice and encouragement from the entire room are what stuck with me the most. (more…)

Everyone calls you when they need someone. They call you because they know you’ll be a listening ear, give sound advice, help you with a different perspective, lend them money, do favors, act as their personal psychologist. You’re called for all of the problems. Someone needs money-Ask you. Someone needs a ride-Ask you. Someone needs advice-Ask you. People expect you to be there at all times of the day because you always have been. (more…)

*Updated Blog Post* "I'm different; I can't base what I'm going be off of what everybody isn't."  (Jay Z. Blue Print 3. 2009) These are words to one of my top five theme songs in life. This week I needed and received my reminder by listening to my theme song (along with Forever Young from the same album)  on repeat each time I had to drive.  This lyric and song, in general, remind me of my greatness and my creativity. It describes the importance of living and doing the things you were meant to do despite what others around you think or believe. (more…)

*Updated Blog Post* As many of my social media friends know, I am in my tenth year as an elementary educator with Baltimore City Public Schools. I have taught fourth and fifth grade, everything from Literacy, Health, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. Upon being hired I was asked, by my then assistant principal, which grade I wanted to teach. I chose fourth grade because it was my favorite grade, thanks to Ms. Drake who was once a teacher at Mary E. Roman Elementary School. I also thought this age group would already have the basic concepts of reading and mathematics and I would be there to enhance their knowledge base. I have never been SO WRONG in my life. (more…)
